The 2012 Nationals are underway, with an interesting practice day yesterday. We have a good number of gliders flying this year with 25 entrants. Even the weather looks like it's not going to be raining for the week and a half which is a very nice change.
Practice day was good up north, although a little soft and challenging down south. Excellent climbs over the swamp as usual. Most did half the task and turned back early to avoid an exhausitng landout on the first day. Most except for Bill in his LAK however, who chose some lovely huge paddocks down Mangakino way to hang out in.
Today looks a little less exciting than we might have hoped for, however there might be some ridge with about 15 knots westerlies, so a task may well be possible.
